Guidelines for Parents

Parents are key agents of their child’s success with music lessons. They can be active participators by encouraging their children, rewarding specific achievements, and by showing pride in their child's accomplishments.

Children will be delighted to show their parents what they have learned. Praise them frequently, and invite them to play a favourite piece (your favourite or theirs) for you, and possibly for friends and family. Parents of children under 7 are welcome to attend my private lessons and then continue with coaching at home. A week between lessons can be a long time for a child, and they might forget something, or get sidetracked in their practising. Parents can help with a mid-week review of the tasks that are outlined in their child’s weekly lesson assignments.
