Life long learning

Sharon D has inspired countless students, and while some have launched into exciting careers in music, many others have simply found joy in discovering their own musical abilities! She believes that everyone has an inner musician waiting to shine, and with a little guidance, anyone can unlock and nurture their unique musical potential.

Sharon's vibrant teaching journey has included community choirs for both adults and children, lively concert and jazz band rehearsals, engaging preschool music programs, dynamic conference workshops, and impactful research presentations—all while running her thriving private music studio! With a wealth of performance experience as a church musician, a solo pianist, and even as the pianist for The Champagne Trio, Sharon continues to hone her craft through dedicated practice and ongoing study.

Now, in her retirement, she enjoys playing her electric keyboards alongside a spirited local community of semi-professional rock and blues musicians!

Sharon proudly holds an Associate Diploma of Music in piano performance from Conservatory Canada, an ARCT in piano pedagogy from the Royal Conservatory of Music, a Master’s degree in Music Education from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music, and a Doctorate in Philosophy in Holistic Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (2015)!

Sharon’s passion for Dalcroze Eurhythmics—a joyful way of learning music through movement—is truly inspiring. She continues to take advanced classes whenever they are available, to deepen her practice and grow in this unique art.

This dynamic pedagogy is the perfect introduction to children's study of music, and has also profoundly influenced seasoned musicians, theorists, dancers, and theatre performers—often transforming the ways they connect with music altogether.

As a certified Dalcroze instructor, Sharon is now on an exciting path toward earning her Dalcroze License, and exploring the beautiful ways sound, expression, nature, and spirit intertwine.
